Details

This course will provide the practitioner an overview of Engineering Ethics, including providing key definitions and explaining the common ethical thought constructs and philosophical analysis tools. Also discussed will be ASHRAE's Code of Ethics, as well as the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) Code of Ethics. Then, the learner will have the opportunity to review several ethical case studies derived from adjudicated decisions from the NSPE, selected with a focus on the duties and decisions faced by those in the Built Environment industry. Key details of each case study will intentionally be left out of the initial scenario presentation in order to provoke deep thought and “if X…, then Z…, but if W…, then…Y” types of discussion. Finally, the full NSPE details and ruling will be shared for each case study. (Dual), 2.0 PDHs. This course is approved by AIA. It can be subscribed to independently, as part of Fundamentals: HVAC Systems Course Package, or Fundamentals eLibrary.

This course can be used by ASHRAE chapters for group learning. However, the final exam can only be completed by the person who purchased the course. For more information, email: eLearning.ashrae.org
