Discusses how Standard 62.1-2010 specifies minimum ventilation rates and other measures intended to provide indoor air quality that is acceptable to human occupants and that minimizes adverse health effects. Focuses on the Ventilation Rate Procedure, as described in Section 6.2 of the Standard. Lesson 1 will provide an introduction to indoor air quality. Lesson 2 describes how to design ventilation systems. Lesson 3 discusses multiple zone systems.

At the completion of this course, you will:

  • Know the requirements for the Standard 62.1-2010 Ventilation Rate Procedure.
  • Be able to apply the requirements to a hypothetical building.
  • Be able to apply the basic ventilation rate procedure equations.
  • Understand the difference in breathing zone ventilation, zone ventilation rates and ventilation required at the outdoor air intake.
  • Understand the operation of single-zone 100% outside air and constant volume systems.
  • Understand the concepts of single supply and secondary recirculation.
  • Understand why different conditions must be calculated.
  • Know the assumptions for VAV system zones
  • Be able to apply the 62MZCalc spreadsheet program.

This course can be subscribed to individually or as a part of the Standard 62.1-2007: Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor Air Quality Course Package (Dual).
