Provides minimum requirements for the siting, design, construction, and plan for operation of high-performance green buildings to balance environmental responsibility, resource efficiency, occupant comfort and well-being, and community sensitivity, and support the goal of development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Focuses on Sections 5, 6, 9 and 10 of the Standard.

Lesson 1 will cover water use efficiency and site sustainability.
Lesson 2 will cover the building’s impact on the atmosphere, materials and resources; and construction and plans for operation that are related to water, sites and materials.

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand the basis for defining the building internal water consumption.
  • Recognize when condensate package systems for water reuse are required on air handling units, determine the requirements for outdoor air flow monitoring devices, and understand minimum day lighting specifications and applications.
  • Know the requirements for low-emitting materials within the project.
  • Understand how storm water mitigation is achieved in the Standard’s requirements.

This course can be subscribed to individually or as a part of the Standard 189.1: High Performance Green Building Design Course Package.
